Designed by Israeli designer Anai Green, it is the first fabric that transforms the energy emitted by the sun into electricity. Anai has created a product that can provide, through the daytime collection of solar energy, not only the shadow, but also the light. In fact, Lumiweave is a real tent for urban shading → and is able to lower the temperature of the outdoor areas of cities in a natural way. At the same time, after collecting energy during the day, the night can turn it into electricity, thus emitting light. It is an economical and modular system, but above all it does not need to be connected to a power grid to feed and therefore it is very versatile and sustainable, suitable for all spaces. Without sun it can continue to emit light for three days.

It is also a very simple product: it is not composed of a complex photovoltaic cell, but of a fabric that is easily installed and very flexible, based on organic solar photovoltaic cells →.
Lumiweave explores the possibility of having lighting and shading as needed. The performance of this new material means that it can be used in different urban situations, in city streets and in open spaces, day and night.
The project was selected as one of four winning projects of the Women4Climate Tech International Challenge 2020, an organization dedicated to strengthening women’s participation and leadership in building a sustainable future.
